ARLINGTON - Rob Ryan strutted out of the locer room on Thursday evening, satisfied with the end result.
Sure, his defense surrendered 352 yards and looked vulnerable during stretches of the Cowboys' 20-19 victory over Miami. But it didn't fracture in the area where games are often won or lost - the red zone.

"They were 0 for 4 down there," boasted Ryan, Dallas' bombastic defensive coordinator. "That's pretty good. That's what you need. I think we executed better than we had been. It was a point of emphasis."
Just last Sunday, Ryan watched with dismay as his bunch collapsed like a broken dam against Washington during a 27-24 overtime victory. The Redskins scored three touchdowns on plays conducted inside the red zone, prompting Ryan to bemoan the defense's performance inside its own 20-yard line.
He spent the next three days trying to spark improvement in that area of the field.
